Finally Zambian football fans have something to smile about after an indiffernt start to this round of AFCON and World Cup 2010 qualifiers. A 1-0 win from the penalty spot is what the Chipolopolo needed to breakdown the Shilangu. This rises many questions among seasoned fans that have seen the ups and downs of Zambian football.
While an expatriate coach might be a good stopgap measure for the chipolopolo, what Zambian football really needs is top quality coaches at club level who will produce fully baked players that will feed into the national team.
One needs only to look back ten or fifteen years ago to see that impact that properly trained coaches had on the game on the local scene.
Ashious Melu took over a Mufulira Wanderers that was not doing well and won two back-to-back titles soon after doing his coaching course in Greece.
